Symana She Speaks is one of our city's most forward thinkers, who has embodied her conscious with the rhythmic sounds of her speech. She is Symana She Speaks and she is doing her part in keeping our legacy of Spoken Word and conscience thought alive. She is a published author her first book of poetry is entitled “Symana She Speaks… Love.” In 2011 she released her debut CD entitled, “Finally… She Speaks.”
Symana has been writing poetry since she was a child and embarked on the Spoken Word scene in May of 2010. Symana has hosted her own weekly and monthly sets across the Cincinnati area. She has performed with a wide variety of the industries royalty. Including Nikki Giovanni, Fantasia, Marsha Ambrosious, Erykah Badu, Lenny Willams, Tom Browne, Peaches and Herb, The Dramatics, The Zapp and The Rick James Bands, Wilbert Longmire, Kim Whitley, Chris Thomas, and on various stages like The National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and the Columbus Jazz Festival.
Symana was a part of the ensemble cast in the stage play Church Girls. She is the winner of the 2012 Arts and Poetry citywide slam competition in Cincinnati and the runner up in 2013. Symana has headlined, featured and guest hosted events across the region and In addition to being a solo artist/host, Symana is a core member of the spoken word group, "P.I.M.P Hand Strong", a all women spoken word collective based in Cincinnati, OH.
Symana has written for many publications and is currently the lead writer for CincySoul.com.
Symana is always careful to give God all the praise and realizes that if it had not been for the Lord there is no telling where she would be. God certainly has His hand on this sister. Her constant prayer is that He will always allow her to be a Living Testimony to His goodness, mercy and grace!
